Whether you grew up in Corvallis, went to college here, or just visited, one thing evident about this city is it has an incredibly diverse and fun culture. There is always a community event or local show to see and we have great local cuisine and coffee houses to choose from. Today I’m going to address a local favorite and source of pride, fermentation. (I mean alcohol). The city of Corvallis is host to several brewers of varying style and character; I’m going to mention five.
I’m listing them alphabetically beginning with
1. 2 Towns Cider
Starting out in a garage and growing in success, 2 Towns Cider officially opened their doors on November 23rd, 2010 with the mission to “Bring craft cider back to the people.” Their full bodied delicious cider owes its flavor to the creative brew masters and the commitment to only use 100% locally sourced North West apples. A lot has changed for this Corvallis startup in the past 6 years, but one thing that hasn’t is they have always and continue to produce handmade craft cider with fresh ingredients, which makes for a “Damn Fine Cider”. 2 towns tap room is 21 and older.

2. Block 15 Restaurant and Brewery
Block 15 opened in downtown Corvallis February of 2008. Since then they have expanded into 2 breweries with restaurants, a yeast cellar, and a sister restaurant, Les Caves. Block 15 beer is carefully crafted and creatively brewed. They rotate with seasonal ingredients and brew their beer with their own yeast. Block 15 is heavily involved in the corvallis community hosting the yearly “Blocktober fest”, preaching and practicing sustainability in the business world and monthly donating a portion of sales to partnering charity organizations through their “The people’s pint tap program”. The vision and mission of block 15 perfectly captures the heart of the corvallis community; they also brew great beer.

3. Flat Tail Brewing
Flat Tail, a local sports pub & brewery is located on the waterfront in downtown Corvallis. The Brewmasters at Flat Tail cite family as one of their fundamental elements and inspiration for creation. Dave Marliave, Co-Owner and Head Brewmaster, began at a young age learning how to brew from his mom. They have represented our community in several brewing competitions around the country, allowing us all to celebrate with them in their success. The pub is a great place to grab a bite and watch the game with friends.

4. Mazama Brewing
Mazama Brewing is located off of Highway 34. It is family owned and operated. They craft traditional Belgian and American style beers. Supporting their local Corvallis Community is important to them. They like to be involved in charitable functions and sustainable practices. They are a great place to grab a beer and a bite to eat. If you’re looking for a new and different activity try their Yoga on Tap class, where for $15 you get to do an hour of yoga and cool down with a pint in their tap room. This is a 21 and older bar so make sure to get a baby sitter.

5. Sky High Brewing
Sky High is located in downtown Corvallis and is the sister restaurant of American Dream Pizza. They have a variety of beers on tap brewed on the first floor of their building. There’s always plenty of options for seating between the tap room, bar, balcony, restaurant, and in the summers the roof top. It is a great place to have a family night out. In the summers when the roof is open enjoy a locally brewed beer and a game of cornhole while you watch the sunset over the cascades.
